words: Affirmative Prayer

There's a power for good in the Universe and you can use it.

Affirmative Prayer, which we also call Spiritual Mind Treatment, is our form of prayer. We use this method of prayer to concentrate and direct our thought which in turn changes our belief and the healing process happens.

A Simple Sample of Spiritual Mind Treatment:

There is One Power in the Universe which is expressed through all things (Step 1). I am one with this Power and this Power expresses through me (Step 2). From this place of clarity I declare that I live in a state of perfect health and abundance (Step 3). I am so grateful for this knowledge (Step 4). I release my word as law, knowing that the perfect expression of the work is already manifest (Step 5). And so it is.

To learn more about our methods of prayer you can talk to a minister or practitioner, read the basic tenets of this philosophy in The Science of Mind™ by Ernest Holmes, or take classes here at The NoHo Arts Center or a nearby Center for Spiritual Living.

If you would like to contact a Licensed Practitioner to work with you in knowing the Truth, please see the contact list of the Licensed Practitioners (above) who are members of the NoHo Arts Center for New Thought.

FEBRUARY 2012 SPIRITUAL MIND TREATMENT:

Love is the Answer

“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line.”
   --
Lucille Ball

There is one absolute power, which is Divine Love. It knows no opposite. It is the very essence of Life Itself. This Divine Love eternally expresses through and as me in my unique fashion.

I now speak my Word with the knowledge that my Word has power. I know that Love is the greatest power in my life and every aspect of my body, mind and spirit is infused with it. There is nothing in my life that can’t be healed with Love. As I learn to love myself more fully, my life reveals riches that I had not thought possible. I have confidence in myself because I know that I am Love walking into every situation. I expect Love to be my experience in the world because I know that like attracts like. Self-care is easy and balance comes naturally. I attract to me the perfect situations, people, and circumstances that are for my highest good at all times. My spiritual journey is my priority and I happily commit to an active spiritual practice. I find joy and I bring joy every day. My life is fulfilling and prosperous because these are the qualities I bring to it. I am living my Divine purpose and Life is good!

For all that has been spoken, I am truly grateful.

I release my Word into that Law that says, “yes,” and I know that it is so. And so it is.

FEBRUARY 2012 ARTICLE OF THE MONTH
Rising Above It All
Rev. Sharon Earle

This time of year comes with a barrage of red hearts, red roses and red chocolate boxes. “It’s that Hallmark holiday again,” I say to myself. I have to confess, I am a Valentine’s Day Scrooge.

I remember one of my favorite Valentine’s Days. My husband and I were living with a friend after losing our Santa Monica rent-controlled apartment in the Northridge earthquake. It was a difficult time for us because two weeks earlier I had been mugged at gunpoint and was experiencing a lot of fear. So here it is, Valentine’s Day, and my husband was very busy working on a project in a makeshift studio having lost his studio to the temblor. I was feeling overwhelmed with what I had been through, but while listening to the local radio station, I had heard about a brand new ice-blended mocha drink that had just come out. I remember pulling my husband away from his work and arm-in-arm we walked for our special Valentine surprise. We sat outside and had ice-blended mochas and watched the world go past us. It was a clear, bright sunny day and we experienced a slice of Heaven there on the sidewalk with our special treat. Even though our world had been shaken, we experienced a joy that day sitting there together, a joy that surpassed all the circumstances we had been dealing with.

Ernest Holmes wrote: “To rise above the contemplation of conditions is to enter that field of Causation which makes all things new in our experience.”

That experience was eighteen years ago, but it’s a memory we both carry with us that we will never forget: Simple, loving, heart-felt moments together that fed our soul.

So even though my Valentine’s Day is not about red roses and chocolate…maybe, I’m not such a Scrooge after all!
